Seek. Bind. Strengthen.

STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO: Picture Praise, 3/26/12

This picture was taken when we were at a fundraiser for a church in a far bush community. The little girl had been with friends, then realized her mom was not around. She found her and the relief was pretty evident on her face. (As a side, she also had a fever; I felt her head. So she looks a little droopy at the end of the day.)

We do community-based health care (immunizations, HIV/AIDS counseling, clean water projects). I teach Sunday School, homeschool my own kids, and run a small guest house. My husband was born in Kenya as a missionary kid. All three of our children were also." You can visit Vera @ www.Steuryngs.blogspot.com

Work of Their Hands

STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO: Picture Praise, 3/19/12

Here at our Training Center the girls are learning to do high quality sewing, crochet and embroidered products. We pray this "work of their hands" will be a blessing to them and their families, allowing them to provide food and other essentials and lift them up out of their poverty.

Guard It Well

STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO: Picture Praise, 3/12/12

This little girl was guarding this Bible so well! This was a fun, fun church day. It was Christmas, and we were all going to a place where I had gifts for them. There was chatter and excitement the whole walk there. This little one was put in charge of that Bible and she did not take that job lightly!

That Everyone May Eat

STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO: Picture Praise, 3/5/12

Each day at school during the break, many of the girls at the school where I teach go outside into the street and buy small baggies of food. This might be spiced couscous, boiled leaves, or tiny fried dough cakes. The girls will come and sit on the terrace and many hands will share the food.
